Usage Note

Sooft introduces a subordinate clause describing a repeated or habitual event. The verb goes to the end: sooft er anrief, war sie beschäftigt. It is more literary than jedes Mal wenn.

Natural Translation

Whenever I hear this song, I think of the past.

Literal Translation
