Usage Note
obwohl is a subordinating conjunction, so it kicks the verb to the end of its clause: obwohl es regnet ('although it's raining'). In casual speech it can even start a stand-alone afterthought meaning 'then again'. Synonym obgleich is more formal.
Examples
"Wir gehen, obwohl es regnet."
Natural Translation
We are going, although it's raining.
Literal Translation
We go, although it rains.
