Usage Note

Grundrechtseinschränkung is any limitation placed on a constitutionally guaranteed right — permissible only if provided for by law and proportionate to the objective pursued. The Wesensgehalt (essential core) of each fundamental right may never be touched. Courts examine whether restrictions satisfy the Verhältnismäßigkeitsprinzip.
