Usage Note
Grundrechte are the basic rights enshrined in Articles 1–19 of the German Basic Law, including human dignity, freedom of expression, and equality. The plural is the usual form; the singular Grundrecht refers to a specific right. The Federal Constitutional Court (Bundesverfassungsgericht) safeguards them.
