Usage Note
plaudern describes relaxed, informal chatting without serious purpose, often over coffee. It governs über + accusative for the topic and mit for the companion: mit jemandem plaudern. The noun Plauderei (a chat) and Plauderton (chatty tone) derive from it. Warmer and cosier than reden or sprechen.
