Usage Note

Nebenher means 'at the same time (as something else)' or 'on the side', e.g. nebenher jobben ('to work on the side'). It can also mean 'incidentally' when introducing a side remark. Distinct from nebenbei only in register — the two are near-synonyms in modern usage.
