Usage Note
hängen is famously two verbs: intransitive and strong (das Bild hing, 'the picture was hanging') versus transitive and weak (ich hängte das Bild, 'I hung the picture'). The intransitive one takes the location dative, the transitive one the direction accusative. An jemandem hängen means 'to be attached to someone'.
