Usage Note
Volksentscheid is a binding decision made directly by the electorate, from Volk (people) and Entscheid (decision). It is masculine. In German constitutional language it typically follows a Volksbegehren (citizens' petition) and produces a legally binding result, unlike a merely consultative vote.
