confidence motion
Usage Note
Vertrauensfrage is the device by which a chancellor asks parliament to confirm its confidence, from Vertrauen (trust) and Frage (question). It is feminine. Losing it can let the head of state dissolve the Bundestag; chancellors sometimes pose it deliberately to trigger early elections.

"Der Kanzler stellte im Parlament die Vertrauensfrage."
Natural Translation
The chancellor put the question of confidence to parliament.
