Usage Note

Rechtswidrigkeit is one of the three levels of a criminal offence in German law: a deed must fulfil the Tatbestand, be rechtswidrig (unlawful), and the actor must be schuldhaft (culpable). Justifications like self-defence exclude Rechtswidrigkeit.
