Usage Note

Kollaps refers to a sudden physical breakdown, either of an organ (e.g. Kreislaufkollaps, circulatory collapse) or of the whole body, such as fainting. It is more serious and sudden than Schwindel (dizziness) and may require emergency attention. Do not confuse with Zusammenbruch, which is also used figuratively for emotional breakdown.
