Usage Note

Hausschuhe are indoor shoes worn at home instead of going barefoot. In Germany it is standard to remove outdoor shoes at the front door and put on Hausschuhe; hosts often offer Pantoffeln (slippers) to guests. Latschen is an informal synonym.
