Usage Note
Hörakustiker tests clients' hearing, fits and adjusts hearing aids (Hörgeräte), and advises on hearing care. It is a three-year apprenticeship trade in Germany. Feminine: Hörakustikerin. Distinct from Hals-Nasen-Ohren-Arzt (ENT doctor), who handles medical diagnosis.
