Usage Note
Freiwurf denotes the uncontested throw awarded after certain fouls, most commonly used in basketball and handball. In basketball, the Freiwurflinie (free-throw line) is 4.6 m from the basket; a player who misses both Freiwürfe is said to scheitern.
