Usage Note

Bruttoinlandsprodukt (BIP) is the total value of goods and services produced within Germany in a given period. Das BIP schrumpfte (GDP shrank). Nearly always abbreviated BIP after first mention, but learners need both forms. Central to macro-economics reporting.
