Usage Note

Woraufhin is a pronominal adverb used to link two events: the second follows as a direct consequence of the first: Sie klagte sich ab, woraufhin er allein blieb ('She left, whereupon he remained alone'). Common in narration and formal reporting. Verb-second follows it in main clauses.

Examples

"Er rief an, woraufhin sie sofort zurückkam."

Natural Translation

He called, whereupon she came back immediately.
