Usage Note
kurzfristig functions both as an adjective (kurzfristige Planung = 'short-term planning') and as an adverb meaning 'at short notice, spontaneously': er sagte kurzfristig ab ('he cancelled at short notice'). It is extremely common in professional and everyday German and contrasts with langfristig (long-term) and mittelfristig (medium-term).
