Usage Note

Ergo is a Latinism used in German for a clear logical deduction, often with a slightly ironic or emphatic tone in everyday speech: du hast gelogen, ergo vertraue ich dir nicht mehr = 'you lied, therefore I no longer trust you'. More common in educated or journalistic registers.
