bisherig describes whatever has held true 'up to now', built from the adverb bisher ('so far'). It almost always sits attributively before a noun: der bisherige Rekord ('the previous record'), die bisherigen Ergebnisse ('the results so far'). It carries a sense that the situation may now change.
