Oberstufe refers to the final two or three years of the Gymnasium (roughly years 10–12 or 11–13), leading to the Abitur. Pupils in the Oberstufe can choose Leistungskurse (advanced-level courses) and Grundkurse (standard courses), giving some flexibility.
